September 2013 Banlist – OMG Great stuff here!!!

The new Yugioh banlist came out, and it looks overall great. I will keep my foil Reborns and Judgments just in case they come back *hint hint* lol. Here’s the list of the changes:

Banned:

BURNER, DRAGON RULER OF SPARKS – Never learned Dragon Rulers well, so don’t know this card. Dragon Rulers are overpowered though, so this will help.

Elemental Hero Stratos – Waah I was planning on running Bubble Beat competitively, oh well. Had to go anyways. I don’t find this card broken by itself, but the ability to recycle it with The Shining just makes it overpowered lol.

LIGHTNING, DRAGON RULER OF DRAFTS – Read above for Burner

REACTAN, DRAGON RULER OF PEBBLES – Read above

STREAM, DRAGON RULER OF DROPLETS – Read above

NUMBER 16: SHOCK MASTER – This card is good lol. Deserves a ban I guess :P. Locks way too easily.

Spells:

Card Destruction – Dark Worlds haven’t seen a lot lately :P. I see why its good, but in situations its bad even in DW’s so I think it still should be limited.

Gateway of the Six – Don’t find this OP either, but Six Sams shall survive! :D.

Heavy Storm – It has it’s counters, but still got the ban. Too me Heavy Storm is necessary. With no Heavy, we just set our traps willy-nilly and know they will only get MST’ed or another one for one. Heavy made setting traps more strategical, now it’s not so much anymore, so I think Heavy should come back.

Monster Reborn – Had to go eventually. Is an one for one, but the options it provides are too overpowered.

Spellbook of Judgment – Never learned Spellbooks, but have heard this is the most overpowered card in Spellbooks, so I guess that’s good :D.

Super Rejuvination – Obviously predicted. No more +5’s for Dragon Rulers :D.

Traps:

Solemn Judgment – I don’t find this card overpowered at all, but it’s to make Traps weaker so that we don’t have to worry about them since Heavy Storm’s banned, and I understand that :P.

Ultimate Offering – This guy’s becoming a new format hopper, along with Monster Reborn, Heavy Storm, and other staples. Gadgets haven’t been doing well recently, so I don’t get this at all.

Limited (1 per deck):

Monsters:

Atlantean Dragoons – Mermails get hit a bit

Brotherhood of the Fire Fist – Spirit – Never heard of this guy, must be a new Fire Fist after Cosmo Blazer :P.

Deep Sea Diva – Interesting limit. Overpowered in Mermails, other than that it’s not that great.

Genex Ally Birdman – Probably to reduce loops involving him

Rescue Rabbit – Dino Rabbit’s were almost dead anyways, this makes them dead lol. I will still play them for fun :P.

Thunder King Rai-Oh – The first anti-meta card to get hit. This list hurts anti-meta decks severely. I don’t get this one at all specifically, but can understand the others :P.

Dewloren, Tiger King of the Ice Barrier – Never bothered to learn what this does lol.

Constellar Ptolemy M7 – Never heard of this till the list lol.

Spells:

D-Fissure – Guess it’s too good at 3 with Heavy, don’t find it too great. We need anti-meta cards like this.

Gold Sarcophagus – Probably to hurt Dragon Rulers more, since that’s the only really competitive deck that runs this.

Royal Tribute – GK’s get hurt slightly from this, still a great deck.

Traps:

Bottomless Trap Hole – This card finally moved lol. It is better than Warning in most cases, so 1 of each is fairly balanced.

Compulsory Evacuation Device – I see why this card went down to 1. It is very difficult to counter this.

Eradicator Epidemic Virus – No clue lol.

Macro Cosmos – Same as D-Fissure. These cards deserve to be semied to me if they are going to get hit :P.

Soul Drain – Don’t remember what it does, remember that it’s good, but not even worth a hit lol.

Torrential Tribute – Guess Konami semied both of these to see which one is more powerful once and for all, and found out that it’s Torrential, so they limited it again :P.

Semi-Limited (2 per deck):

Mezuki – Zombies are back. Be prepared to offer your brains.

Plaguespreader Zombie – Read above

T.G. Striker – T.G. Agents get a big boost from this and another change you will see shortly.

Fire Formation – Tenki – Meh. I find Fire Fists to not even be overpowered at all lol. I beat them half the time with Agent Fairy.

Traps:
Dimensonal Prison – No one plays 3 anyways lol. This is going to end up being at 1 if Heavy doesn’t return. I think it will though, because I don’t find it overpowered at all. Obviously don’t set a ton of backrow with no protection, thus making having Heavy more strategical :P.

Unlimited (3 per deck)

Destiny Hero – Malicious – Well it’s about time!

The Agent of Mystery – Earth – The other T.G. Agent booster, definately going to run Agent Fairies competitively at some point once BLS getting reprinted (never owned one lol).

Tsukuyomi – Not as overpowered as it was before blah blah blah we all know for this one lol.

A Hero Lives – Another card I never memorized, read it a few times and find it not even banlist worthy in the first place.

Black Whirlwind – Blackwings are back guys! I thought they would be back last banlist with Kalut at 3, but they weren’t, so they may not be back this format either. I hope they will be though :D.

E – Emergency Call – With Stratos banned, this can be at 10 per deck and not be overpowered.

Hieratic Seal of Convocation – The ROTA for Hieratics. Maybe Hieratics will return.

Pot of Duality – I guess the Special Summoning restriction made the semi seem a bit too much.

Scapegoat – Creature Swap annoyance fun!

Comments: Even though this list hurt a lot of my decks, I find it to be very good and balanced. I would have liked to see more Mermail hits though, especially with D Fissure and Cosmos at 1, I sided these for against Mermails, now I can’t use them. We still have 3 Banisher’s for Mermails, so I guess it’s doable.

What’s the most interesting about this list to me is that it changes again in December, 3 months from now instead of 6. This means that any new overpowered decks Konami makes will be banned a few months later if they keep with the 3 month change instead of 6. This leads to less complaining about overpowered decks, which is good. I wouldn’t get your hopes up that Konami won’t make another overpowered deck :P.
