Ive noticed a lot more arguing in general between ROBLOX and Minecraft than Yugioh and Magic, which was my last article. Before I say anything, I want to say that I am dissappointed with society with this one. After doing some research on Minecraft, I learned enough to know that they are barely even comparable. These are the similarities and differences between Minecraft and ROBLOX:
Similarities:
Build with blocks
Both have scripting (I would say ROBLOX has a lot more scripting than Minecraft, but not sure how the mods work at all in Minecraft, which I think is where the scripting is for Minecraft)
Differences:
Minecraft is more of a survival game
ROBLOX is closer to creating your own original video game.
ROBLOX has meshes that change the shape of parts
ROBLOX has a whole different program for creating games
Minecraft costs money to host a server, whereas ROBLOX does this automatically.
ROBLOX makes money from the premium Builders Club to pay for their servers.
ROBLOX uses an altered version of the language Lua for its programming (It’s not completely different than regular Lua, I have read several regular Lua programming books, and ROBLOX Lua is pretty much this formula:
ROBLOX Lua = Lua +OOP (Object-Oriented Programming) – Operating System/File Manipulating functions.
Minecraft makes money from the initial purchase and servers. I’ve heard that there is also a premium membership for Minecraft, but know little about it.
You can make your character whatever you want in Minecraft for free
In ROBLOX, you can script your character to look however you want for free in your game, but in other people’s games, you will have to actually buy the virtual item for virtual currency.
As you can tell, there are a ton more differences than simiarities. I am sure that there are more similarities if I learn more about Minecraft, I can think of some, but I can think of a TON more differences that I haven’t written down, thus prooving they are barely even comparable lol. Still not convinced that they are incomparable? Post a comment telling me why you even bother to still think they are comparable, because I am 99.999% positive that they are.

Now, a lot of people after seeing/hearing about good replicas of Minecraft on ROBLOX say that it’s not an exact replica. Of course it isn’t, but can you make a better replica of ROBLOX on Minecraft? I have yet to see that, or any 2 worlds that even look different in Minecraft. In ROBLOX, every game looks way more different than Minecraft worlds do. They all have the Minecraft blocks in them. ROBLOX has games that are purely based on 2-dimensional GUI’s even, as shown below:

Still not conviced that they are incomparable? Ive shown you 2 ROBLOX games that look completely different from each other, and have yet to see the same for Minecraft.
Don’t get me wrong, Minecraft is a great game. It’s fun and addicting. However, it is a game by itself, whereas ROBLOX is more like a game making platform. Thus even more showing their incompatibility. I think I’ve gotten enough proof by now that they are incomparable, I could go on forever with more reasons, but I definately have enough by now. Have fun playing either Minecraft or ROBLOX, or even both! Why choose one in the first place, now that you know they are incomparable?
